Doreen Teresa Gibson

Doreen Teresa Gibson died on March 1 2019 in Rocky Mount. She was born in Godstone Surrey England to Henry and Teresa Gibson on May 28, 1924. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Irene Wyatt, all of Reigate Surrey England. She is survived by her sister, Vera F. Holmes of Rocky Mount, her niece, Jennell H Harris (Frank) of Burlington and great niece, Dr. Hannah Baggett (Russ) of Opelika, Alabama; and her Nephew, Michael W. Holmes.

Miss Gibson immigrated to the United States and later become a US citizen. In 1956 she began work as a medical receptionist at Rocky Mount Sanitarium Hospital. She continued to work for Drs. Lem and Bob Kornegay until her retirement.

In her retirement she volunteered many hours with Meals on Wheels and as a Pink Lady at the hospital.

In the words of her great niece, Hannah, "Aunt Doreen was fiercely independent, stubborn, -- not afraid to speak her mind and loved lying in the sun".
